A new form of online affiliate marketing that seems to be getting more and more popular is data feeds. By using data feeds web owners can fill there website with thousands upon thousands of affiliate program products and pages within minutes… There is one downfall to it however, by using data feeds from affiliate programs you are copying similar content so can easily be lower ranked for duplicate content in the search engines.
How to stop duplicate content with Data feeds…?
There is one way around it though? By editing the feed (text or CSV) in excel or similar you can change or add extra tabs to the feed. Simply by editing the description in the feed you can can stop the duplicate content feed… I know this would take a while but by not doing it ranking will not be very good. Another thing to consider is masking (redirect on links) and using nofollow on the affiliate links. Another recent popular solution is to use a robots.txt file to exclude urls of that nature for indexing.
By following these simple steps that take a bit longer than just uploading as soon as you get the feed , you can have a your style affiliate site up and running in no time.. I am currently working on a few feeds to create an all round unique data store of products… Products i will be using will be from Allposters, Amazon, Pepperjam store feed (like above but separate page for each) and i am looking for another one….
All together i will make a store that pulls data from all four or five, and sort them by category. Basically it will look like a ecommerce website but not… In fact the script i will probably use is OScommerce or OSmax. That way it will have the shopping cart feel but provide affiliate products by category… The potentials of data feeds is another way of making money online…
